Writing sports articles encompass the art of captivating linguistic and rhetorical skills alongside facts and statistics, names, and team affiliations. Search engine optimization is a component adherent to generating online traffic to a certain article, website, posting, or other piece of writing. Obviously you don’t want to take away from the content of the article nor the tone. In fact, writing an SEO piece allows you the same theme, tone, and purpose only altering the verbiage a bit.

The first step is to think of a short list of the top two or three words which best describe the topic of your article. Should the article be about a specific football team, you will want to generate a list which incorporates the team or sport and adjectives that best describe said sport. Common words that people would use when searching for content related to your website or the article within your website are the best words to use. Your goal is to generate as much traffic and search engine results based on the top handful of words matching against your article.

The words that you select should then be organized into a key word or phrase. This phrase will generally be the title of your sports article. The key phrase should show up within the first sentence of the article. Ensuring that the article is no less than 300 words and generally no more than 500, your goal is to divide the article into six or seven paragraphs, all short and each containing the keyword or phrase. If your keywords are “placing successful bets” you want to make sure that the SEO content remains that original phrase. It cannot be a variation of the phrase, which will require that some sentences be carefully reconstructed to adhere to the tense of the paragraph while being grammatically correct in its inclusion of the SEO key phrase. When it is completed, proofreading is the next step. Proofread the article like any other and check for spelling, grammar, transitions from one paragraph to the next, and then look for the SEO content and that it reads well. Practice and patience will in fact make perfect as the adage goes. It might seem too technical and forced at first, but maintaining the integrity of your pieces to include SEO key phrases and words will increase the traffic to your site, blog, etc…

After the SEO keywords and phrases have been selected and you have finished and proofread the article, the next step is outside factors. These factors include linking yourself in online directories. Look for directories which relate to the content of your website. The Open Directory Project is the largest directory in the world as far as websites are concerned. Volunteers maintain the site and will review your website before listing it in the directory.

However, once listed, sites such as Google and America Online, and Hotmail will search for directories first. It will take a few weeks before your website is listed, but once listed the traffic to your page and rankings in Google will increase and being listed is free. Yahoo does not allow free commercial sites to be listed, but the fee is just under three hundred dollars per year to maintain a listing in Yahoo’s directory. Once you are linked to one or more of these directories, you can submit articles in your area of expertise or passion through their sites. This will not only continue to generate more traffic to your website or personal blog, but will provide you the opportunity to get your name published on the World Wide Web.

Affiliate marketing is when a business will seek to reward another business through affiliates for each visitor to the site. Examples for online advertising would be agreeing to advertise another business through a flier or a link on your website, and in return having them do the same, or otherwise encourage others to visit your site. There are four positions within affiliate advertising: the merchant, network, publisher, and customer. While affiliate marketing is not solely connected to internet marketing, it relates in the uses of search engine optimization, emails, displays on websites and pop-up ads, as well as paid searches.

Affiliate marketing brings with it the option for compensation methods. Cost per sale (CPS) is a compensation method highly associated with compensation programs. Cost per click is another popular option for website compensation. Cost per mille requires that each time a visitor clicks on an advertisement, leading them to the website of origin, the website will generate small compensation. Should the visitor make a purchase, their compensation will heavily increase. Cost per click is an earlier method alongside display advertising and paid searches which have since been almost entirely eliminated. Cost per action is a form of affiliate marketing wherein the company makes a profit only if the visitor clicks on the web advertisement, leading to the website, and then makes a purchase. Each of these methods brings with it a different level of risk for either the affiliate or the advertiser.

Like any multi-level marketing companies, affiliate marketing has compensation plans for employees that offer a baseline pay with high incentives for higher revenue generated. The pay for performance model is used for this method of online advertising, putting pressure on the advertiser to increase sales continually. Display advertising is one area which is easily scalable for progress. Such progress can be tracked through software or third parties who track traffic and sales which were referred through the affiliates. This is referred to as outsourced program management. Hosted services are affiliate networks who offer these services and are paid by the merchant.

The downfall to using affiliate programs is that some are uncontrolled and are responsible for spam, false advertising, and trademark infringement. Email spam has given affiliate marketing a bad reputation, and likewise, search engine spam has contributed to the negative connotation. Websites have developed whose goal if to manipulate any relevancy of the sources which were indexed by search engines. Adware is another inconvenience associated with uncontrolled affiliate marketing. It differs from spyware in that, while the methods are similar, adware will keep track of and then overwrite cookies. This will inevitably results in fewer commissions.

However, with the increased demand for outsourced program management, new websites are hiring affiliate websites to generate marketing methods such as pay per click, comparison shopping, reward systems designed to encourage visitors to return through the earning of points which accumulate and lead to free purchases, coupons, online sales promotions, cost per action networks, and shopping directories. These methods have become very prominent and the negative connotation associated with affiliate marketing online is slowly beginning to climb as such cons as spam and false advertising are better controlled thanks to corporations such as Google and their new technologies for hindering such interferences. Likewise, many affiliate companies have rewritten their guidelines thus prohibiting actions that would at all be detrimental or perceived as stealing commissions from the companies for whom they were hired. If you are seeking an affiliate program for your website you can search for a proper company through affiliate program directories, platforms for advertisers, or the target website itself.

Writing articles is not the fine art that many perceive, meant only for the best and most popular writers. It is merely the process of following simply guidelines in conjunction with informed and proper writing. A connoisseur of, or professional, even an amateur in the art of sports betting can create simple articles for their sport of choice, their method of choice, or any facet therein. The first step for any article is research. Whether you are writing about a particular sports betting system, how a recent sports bet ended, or hypothesizing about sports betting, any facet therein needs to be thoroughly understood before you can write an article about it, and teach others.

The headline should be the catchiest part which grabs the reader’s attention. This helps traffic flow to your article and allows the reader to better determine if the article fits their needs before having to read the entire thing. Search engine optimization is the concept of selecting keywords related to your site which will match web searches. It emphasizes key phrases which are included in your article, ensuring that your article is matched to those searching for similar content. The headline is the most important part and should contain the keywords or phrases. For an article about sports betting, select the three most relevant and important words to define the content of your article and use them in a catchy sentence. This will be your headline.
Once you have become a bit of an expert, the next step is creating the outline for the article. Like any piece of writing, you want an introduction first. This functions as a short paragraph or few sentences summarizing your article. In the introduction, the key words should be used at least once, if not twice.
The body of the article should contain the main content, broken down into one or two key concepts per paragraph.

If your article is about a large topic, such as sports betting, and the content is narrowed down to things such as types, potential, mathematic equations, you can create subheadings for each section. Once the article content is completed, the conclusion should be a paragraph which wraps up and reiterates the point of your article. Some articles require additional resources, such as links to other websites which might expound upon topics that were only briefly mentioned in your article. If this is the case, include the resources and links at the end of the article. Sporadically, as it fits within the flow of the content, the keywords or phrases should be placed within each paragraph if possible. This will increase the traffic generated through search engines to your article.

Make the content and focus of the article adherent to the needs of the reader. It is a fine line between wanting to share all that you learned during your research and only sharing what is pertinent to the theme of the article. Just because you learned four systems for sports betting, or stats from a mentor, does not mean that it all needs to be included. Simplicity and narrowed content are best. Generic information does not always help the reader and will not generate much traffic.

To avoid getting overwhelmed when writing, make sure to take breaks. Sometimes even an hour away will refresh your mind and allow you better transitions and closure in your article. If your article contains a lot of math, references, definitions, then make sure to check the statistics and names twice. Conduct a spelling and grammar check, and then run the article through a plagiarism checker, if necessary.

Social networks are organizations which are made up of people who share a connection such as family members, friends, work relations, common interests, beliefs, ideals, knowledge, or sexual relations. Social networks can be interconnected based on more than one common trait between persons. Nodes and ties are the basis for contributory factors of social networking. Nodes function as the individuals within the networks which the ties are what link the individuals together. Social networks are now famous for their potential to link nations together, solve problems. They function as methods of marketing for businesses, advertising. Organizations run off of social networking now, as this method of networking allows them to achieve goals, whether those goals are selling, buying, or just advertising.

The social media network of Facebook has become a fad indulged by all ages and now functions as one social network where small business owners and entrepreneurs can build relationships in order to gain return customers as well as referrals to friends and family, market their skills through a “status” allowing them to update their friends and family with whatever they see fit. The persons profile contains all of the information one would need to evaluate their qualifications as a small business owner or entrepreneur. Being of the same network can aid those looking for services or products by finding someone in the same city or industry.

Sites such as Facebook offer a means of measuring your value within a social setting. People can create relationships at whichever level they are most comfortable: interpersonal or international. The level of commitment needed for social networking can be very little. Anyone involved in social networking, particularly for a business, seeks optimum traffic. For sites such as Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, FriendFinder, or Twitter, you seek the most traffic through having a high number of “friends” or “followers” or “fans” of your group, business, company, or self. Social networking goes beyond formal characteristics and allows you to seek or be sought based on more specific principles or ideals or commonalities.

In theory, a website is the basis of a social network, or an online community. Traffic to social networking is determined by the amount of data which is sent and received by the visitors therein. The number of visitors combined with the number of pages that they visit will generate the amount of traffic to your social networking site. You can determine the most popular parts of your webpage or social networking through the highest visited. Search engine optimization is the best measure to generating traffic to your sites, as popularity continues to grow within pages or sections of the site.

Traffic is analyzed through the web serve log file which automatically generates a list of all of the pages served. Whenever your files or pages are served, you generate a hit. Whenever a visitor views a page on your website, a page view is generated. Every page of your website should include a HTML code which acts as a tracking application. This will measure the number of visitors to your page. It will also measure how many pages each visitor views, generating an average figure. The length of the visit to your page is measured and how long they stayed on each page. The most popular pages as well as referrals on your page are measured. This can all be controlled for safety precautions by maintaining passwords for certain portions of the website, only allowing limited access. Advertising can increase traffic to your social network with more to view for the visitors. However, as a precautionary, advertising needs to be purchased and a sudden overload of popularity can cause problems for your site and lead to it crashing temporarily.
